Though Bultaco is primarily remembered for their motocrossers and flat trackers, few actually know that the company started with road racers. The first official Bultaco motorcycle, the Tralla 101, was essentially a 100cc road racer with lights. Bultaco campaigned the European GP series in the sixties with several works entries. The most successful of the racers, Kiwi rider Ginger Malloy, provided the company with it’s one and only GP victory, a 250cc win at the 1966 Ulster Grand Prix. Here we have beautifully restored customer spec 250 TSS. Not a bad bike for a privateer, but not quite up to snuff if lining up against the factory boys. Bultaco continued to refine their classic, single-cylinder, piston-port two-stroke TSS into the late sixties and even added water cooling. It was all in vain however, when Yamaha introduced their TD1C, then eventually the TD2 and TZ over the counter racers.
